Welcome to Orientation at Manhattan School of Music, August 26 – September 5, 2024!
Orientation is a great way to settle into MSM, get to know New York City, and make new friends!
The week will consist of various social activities, such as a sunset cruise around the tip of Manhattan, a smoothie social in the president’s residence, and visits to iconic sites in New York City. Furthermore, there will be informative meetings to assist students in adjusting to the School. It is important to highlight that we encourage all parents to attend Convocation and the Student Success presentation for families on Monday, August 26th. These events will take place in Neidorff-Karpati Hall at 2pm and 3pm, respectively.
During Orientation students have the opportunity to complete any outstanding paperwork, learn about Manhattan School of Music’s programs and resources, participate in departmental auditions, and explore campus life and New York City.
The orientation calendar of events is shared through a Canvas Course available to incoming students starting in mid July.
The MSM Orientation Canvas Course will help you:
- See the full orientation schedule
- Track events you’re interested in
- Learn about required meetings
- Help you find your way around through the school
- Sign up for events you would like to attend will be available on Canvas once the course is published (mid-late July).

- Receive your MSM ID card and finish up paperwork in Ades Performance Space
